Way more than 4 score ago... my experience as a Civil War time-traveler

The 10th annual VanRaalte Farm Civil War Muster

I've always wanted to attend a Civil War reenactment, and this year was my chance! I've known several men who are reenactors, and I am fascinated by the hobby. I've always wanted to join in, actually... in the spirit of the couple of women who pretended to be men and signed up to fight. Maybe some day ;)

Anyway, on this special day I got to see some really cool things: Harriet Tubman, Generals Stuart, Lee, Meade, and President Lincoln speak; military camps; trainings; Sutlers settlements; a medical demonstration; an authentic saloon; and several battles from Gettysburg.

And tons of vintage ladies wandered around with hoop skirts and parasols... making me really question whether I wanted to be an undercover female soldier or a fancy, bonnet wearing Scarlet O'Hara wannabe.

Here are some videos of battle:

And last but not least... a leg amputation.
